It's Not Your Day
You are not alone. You are not wrong.
Ignore those notions. You are truly loved.
It may seem like your cup is overflowing.
Look around. Find your place. Keep going.
Chorus
Ohhh breathe. Ohhh cry it out.
Ohhh shake it off. Ohh have no doubt.
It’s not your day. It’s going to be ok.
You can do this. Tomorrow’s a new day.
I promise the pain will go away.
Happy times will come.
Cherish the moment.
You’ll meet someone who wants your love.
He’ll rise above and fill your soul.
What he gives will make you whole.
If the waves make you feel like you are drowning.
Weather the storm. Get through to morning.
Chorus
So many people care about you.
You know it’s true.
It’s going to be fine.
It’s your time to shine.
(Chorus partial)
Ohhh breathe. Ohhh cry it out.
Ohhh shake it off. Ohh have no doubt.
It’s not your day. It’s going to be ok.
You can do this.
(More strings)
(Fade music just like you did but end with these lyrics)
You can do this.

Why Dad?
About the time my son could run.
He began to ask every question under the sun.
Where do the leaves come from?
What is an oak tree? He asked with a smile.
He scratched his head, the curiosity of a child.
He followed up with how come?
I squeezed him and said the ground.
He looked over and then down
But why?
He was so happy and curious.
The world seemed mysterious
Why does everything seem so new
He ask questions all the time.
Sometimes it’s all fine.
His mother thinks it’s cute
I’ve seen frustrated parents get mad.
He sat on my lap and asked Why dad?
I became frustrated smothered by rue.
Chorus
Where do the birds go?
Why does the wind blow?
Where does the sun set?
Are we there yet?
Why is the dark bad?
You love me? Why dad?
Why do the waves splash?
Why are my potatoes mashed?
Why do we cry? It’s not fun.
Why do we have nightmares?
Then I wake up scared.
Even at night, he never done.
Why is the snow cold?
Why do people get old?
All the questions, not just one.
Chorus
They never end, no matter when.
Why dad? Again and again.
Why dad?
He keeps asking, I keep answering.
Why dad?

Clouds
I saw him on a brisk November day
At a sandwich shop on third and 88th.
You went to Dallas to be with family.
I spent Thanksgiving alone in the city.
You had delivered turkey and green beans.
Signed Jessie.
It was the sweetest deed.
We met.
I remember how cold I felt that day.
I stayed.
I hoped you would whisk me off, carry me away.
You said and did all the right things.
I still knew this had to be my way.
Chorus
The wispy clouds float on the horizon.
Alluring and full of wonder.
Darkness rolls in.
Brings the thunder
And the rain with the pain.
What happened? I study the debris.
What changed? I gaze at the wreckage.
What did I do? I feel lost at sea.
Where did I go wrong? I have to clean up the damage done.
Chorus
I turned back.
I stared at another cloud in front of me.
So beguiling.
I feel lost at sea.
What did I do?
All the debris.
Why do I feel this way?

The Ledge
See the light trudge through the trees. Between the curtains that lead
To the ledge I stand.
Wishing you were standing here.
You always make things crystal clear.
The rain pours upon me.
Falling on my cheeks.
Falling on my dreams.
Flashing sirens whale aloud.
Street began to build a crowd
The impact took her life
Stole my dreams that night.
Damp shadows gush upon me.
Falling on my cheeks.
Falling on my dreams.
Crushing my dreams.
Chorus
The rain pours, rain pours
So hard upon me.
I stand alone
Upon this cold ledge.
Chin held high
to fight the pain inside.
Another night without you by.
Clouds drift over the blood moon.
She carried for us in her womb.
My mind wanders back to that night.
Where all I could shout was why!
It could have gone many other ways.
Instead I live alone in a haze.
Chorus
I fall and wonder what could have been
I’m so scared to think I’d do it again.
What’s lost is gone it feels so very wrong
To try to keep my life movin
Please please tell me what to do
I don’t know how to live without you in it.
The rain pours
Upon my cheeks,
The rain pours.
Crushing my dreams.
The rain pours down!
The rain pours down!

Let's Go Out
Working overtime on Friday.
Feel so bad, I think that I could die.
I’m ready to get on home.
To a cold beer I been wanting
And My couch that’s been calling.
I have no desire to roam.
My phone buzzes, to my surprise.
The boys thirst to test my pride.
There goes my chance to be alone.
Chorus
Let’s go out!
I’ve had enough.
My boss can’t scream no more.
He ain’t so tough.
Let’s go out!
I deserve a break.
Worked my ass to the bone.
It’s too much to take.
I knew I’d get that call that night and
My friends are out to start a fighting.
You might need to talk me off a ledge.
It’s drink thirty on my cell phone.
Ain’t no way I’m staying home.
At this old age I feel I’ve lost my edge.
My TV’s set to binge my favorite show
All the shit I been seeings got to go.
Bring the plow my home needs a dredge.
Chorus
My best intentions include relaxing.
Nothing stopping me from napping.
I can still change my mind and stay.
I lean back and roll my eyes.
Shot of Whiskey to tame my lies
I’ll have some fun along the way.
All that work just makes me sob.
I don’t need this foolish job.
I been Spiraling, but I’m ok.
Chorus
Let’s go out. Yah!
Let’s shout!
Let’s go out!
I had no doubt.
